LUXURY LATER LIVING

Auriens is part of an emerging new residential sector: “luxury later living” that seeks to redefine what it means to live well into old age. A location in the heart of Chelsea and extensive amenities are combined with thoughtful and elegant design. Ben Whistler worked with Auriens and design studio Brady Williams to bring this ambitious project to life.

Brady Williams paid close attention to the specific needs of its older clientele, with no sacrifice to style.

For the restaurant and bar, the chairs and a section of banquette were prototyped to make sure that the height and depth of the chairs were comfortable and easy to move in and out of, with a firmer-than-usual internal build-up.

The dining chair is an elegant steam-bent, stained-beech design with antique-brass sabots, using Whistler Leather and a contrasting fabric.

Single-person banquettes, and neat stools with handles that make them easy to pull out, use the same distinctive shade of blue leather. A private dining area features the same dining chair design, this time using a rich burnt-orange fabric and Whistler Leather’s Bilbao leather.

In the basement wine room, the dining table is surrounded by Ben Whistler chairs, upholstered in Luxor Whistler Leather in the suitably named Rioja colour. Around the walls, yellow leather banquettes in Whistler Leather’s Venice leather have been built into wall niches; they were carefully templated to ensure an exact fit with the room’s sumptuous timber joinery.
