LUXURY LATER LIVING
Riverstone Fulham
london

This was the second project that Ben Whistler was involved in for Riverstone, which aims to offer “the best retirement living in London”. Having supplied furniture for the first Kensington Riverstone, this Fulham outpost beside the Thames was next – with the same procurement team of Ambience, working to an interior design scheme by Bowler James Brindley.

“The best retirement living in London”
Riverstone Fulham has its own design identity and a different layout, but since many of the amenity spaces were similar to the Kensington project – from the bar and restaurant to the cinema room and spa – many of the furniture designs were tweaked and adapted.
Statement chairs feature five-sided upholstered seats and backs, with further pentagon-shaped sections in rattan.

Stand-out new pieces include statement chairs for the reception areas that create a dramatic welcome for visitors: they feature five-sided upholstered seats and backs, with further pentagon-shaped sections in rattan, radiating out to create the arms and upper back sections, all set within a natural oak frame.

In the restaurant, the banquettes had to be precision-made to exactly follow the curving line of a change of flooring from carpet to timber – with no room for error. Other innovative bespoke pieces include outdoor banquettes, made from iroko with integrated planters and hinged seats that conceal storage; and Carrara-marble-topped hair-washing stations for the salon that were made to fit the later installation of basins and associated plumbing pipework.
