BARS & RESTAURANTS
Claridge’s Restaurant
London

One of the most distinctive hospitality settings in the capital, Claridge’s Restaurant boasts art-deco style and an effortless sense of grandeur. Bryan O’Sullivan Studio’s scheme for the space, which reopened in 2023, has all the design hallmarks of a classic brasserie, with fluted banquettes, brass rails and calacatta viola marble, all set off by their unique architectural setting.

Ben Whistler worked with BOS to create the banquettes, stools, tables and dining chairs for this prestigious project.

The long fluted central banquette – actually five banquettes joined together – and perimeter banquettes (13m long each) are all upholstered in Whistler Leather’s Colmar leather in a rich forest green, contrasted with the rust-coloured Zaragoza leather used on the dining chairs. The wood used throughout is Australian timber, with brass detailing, including the brass sabots that were each made by hand. Tables have an elegant timber and metal trumpet-shaped base, rising to meet a stone tabletop with a notch cut out of each corner.

A full prototyping process ensured that every piece had the optimum degree of comfort for the restaurant’s distinguished guests.
