The Painter’s Room
Claridge’s

This snug bar – formerly a storage space – sits next to Claridge’s ballroom, and is intended as a cocooning hideaway for a cocktail or two.

The work of Bryan O’Sullivan Studios (BOS)
The space may be small, but it is packed with sumptuous materials and design details that reference the hotel’s deco-era heyday, in a contemporary way.
Ben Whistler made the 9m-long leather banquette, created in sections for ease of access.

An exact fit was essential, since it had to exactly dovetail with the Italian-made stone-clad wall that sits behind it.

Loose furniture items were all prototyped to ensure that their comfort and proportions were just right. There are antique-brass tables with cast-crystal tops; fluted stools with handles, upholstered in Whistler Leather’s Syracuse leather in This Pink; and chairs with a distinctive crescent-moon-shaped back, upholstered in contrasting leather and corduroy with integrated rings to hold sumptuous tassels.
